Developing a roadmap for a tobacco endgame in Korea

30 Aug 2023

A team from Seoul National University, including CRE researcher Dr Heewon Kang, has received 90,000 AUD from the National Tobacco Control Center at the Korea Health Promotion Institute to develop a roadmap for a tobacco endgame in the Republic of Korea.

The project includes a contextual analysis of countries with endgame goals, reviewing modelling studies to synthesise the impact of tobacco endgame policies on smoking prevalence and health outcomes, running focus groups among governmental officials to identify potential barriers and facilitators for adopting the endgame in Korea, and conducting surveys among the Korean population to identify public support for key tobacco endgame policies. The project will conclude in December 2023.
