Researcher biography

I have broad and varied research interests, reflecting my prior work within University governance and administration, local and central governments. My research is now mostly kaupapa Māori or Māori-centred, focused on decolonising places, such as urban parks, to better understand health-related behaviours such as physical activity, nutrition choices and tobacco use, and their relationship to educational outcomes and well-being. I also have experience in spatio-temporal intervention research, using smart devices (accelerometer and GPS data).

When not at work, I can be found supporting my now adult children playing hockey and/or football, riding my bike, to work or mountain biking, or occasionally tramping and telemark skiing.
