Professor Ann McNeill

Researcher biography
Ann McNeill is Professor of Tobacco Addiction in the National Addiction Centre, King’s College London, and she is also Co-Director of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Addictions. Ann has worked on tobacco and nicotine for nearly 40 years. Her early research examined young people’s dependence on smoking but then expanded to include the application of tobacco control policies and interventions, including harm reduction strategies, to reduce both individual and population level impacts of smoking. Ann’s research also focuses on smoking-caused inequalities and she Co-Chairs a Mental Health and Smoking Partnership, a coalition of stakeholders, led by the charity Action on Smoking and Health.
