Researcher biography

Michaela was awarded her PhD in law in 2022 from the University of Adelaide. She has worked in academia since 2017, first as an associate teacher, then as a lecturer of law at Adelaide Law School. As a medico-legal scholar, her research interests are positioned at the intersection of law, medicine and ethics. She has published broadly in this space and worked closely with government on the implementation of historical voluntary assisted dying legislation in South Australia. She also holds several external appointments, including director and secretary of the Australasian Association of Bioethics and Health Law and is an inaugural member of the Restricted Medical Treatment Assessment Board for the ACT Government.
