Prof Chris Bullen’s primary area of research expertise is in tobacco control, particularly intervention-focused research on how to help more people who smoke to quit smoking. His work involves collaborations with colleagues in research centres overseas and in Aotearoa, New Zealand. He is interested in the association of tobacco smoking with both non-communicable and infectious diseases and has actively sought to include tobacco control and smoking cessation in health professional training. He is interested in evaluating digital and mobile platforms to reach and intervene with health programmes and is also interested in research on 'healthy housing'.
